As a BA student in Textile Design in the UK in the 1980s, drawing and painting formed the foundation of my studies. Thirty years ago, I moved from southern England to the Netherlands. Drawing and painting helped me stay connected to my inner self while adapting to a new culture, language, and way of life. Dutch architecture initially had a strong influence on my work.
My art is now more varied in theme and technique, with line, color, balance, and composition being key aspects of my drawings and paintings. I enjoy telling stories by depicting everyday situations that the viewer recognizes and can identify with. My landscapes take the viewer on a journey of discovery.
I like to use a lot of color to create depth and movement and guide the viewer's gaze through the image.
